Above the Clouds Experience
The complete Carpathian experience, for those who want to take their time. Duration is adjusted to your needs.
- Ridge roads, often above 1,700 m, where the forest ends and the horizon opens.
- Panoramic viewpoints, each offering a different angle on the same vast landscape.
- Tried-and-tested guesthouses we can recommend, though you are free to choose your own.
- Local cuisine, another layer of the experience.
For example
We pick you up at Bucharest airport and drive to Voineasa for the night. Next day we take the Strategica ridge road and return to Bucharest via Rânca. Or we drive the Strategica back the other way, stay another night in Voineasa and head home on day three. You can also stay at the other end of the Strategica, in Rânca.
One-day experiences
Mountain Escape
A single day that takes you into the hidden Carpathians, on lesser-known mountain roads, up to some impressive summits. Short, but unforgettable.
Also on request: Iezer Peak in the Cindrel Mountains and other ridges. Further regions, such as the Apuseni Mountains, can be part of a longer multi-day trip. Tell us what you have in mind.
For those who like to walk
Drive & Hike
We drive as far as the road is allowed to go, then continue on foot along marked trails. Some of the finest views in the Carpathians are only a short walk beyond the last forest road.

A picnic or barbecue at the top
A meal prepared by our chef, with the whole panorama in front of you: a picnic at a viewpoint or a barbecue at sunset, far from any restaurant.
Who we are
A family of nature lovers who love to drive
We are Radu and Violeta, husband and wife. Putting these two passions together led us naturally to off-roading. In more than five years of remote mountain driving we have gathered experience and many extraordinary memories, and now we would like to share them with you.
We are both drivers, trained in off-road driving. For years we explored these roads in a Dacia Duster we prepared ourselves. Now we take you there in a Ford Bronco.
On some trips, one of us is joined by a friend who is a chef and a passionate photographer.
Our philosophy
Mountains should never be rushed.
We don’t count kilometers.
We don’t chase landmarks.
We create memorable experiences in places where nature still feels untouched.
Sometimes the destination is spectacular. Sometimes the journey becomes the destination.

Questions
How much does an experience cost?
Prices vary with the type and length of the experience and where you start from. Once we have shaped the plan together, we send you the final price before anything is confirmed.
Is accommodation included?
You book your accommodation directly, wherever you prefer. We are happy to recommend guesthouses we have tested over the years, the places worth returning to.
Do I need off-road experience? Will I drive?
No experience needed. Your safety comes first for us, therefore we do the driving. You simply sit back, take turns in the front seat and enjoy the views, while our photographer captures the moments.
Is the drive rough or extreme?
No. We do not do extreme off-road. We drive the forest roads needed to reach the Carpathian ridges, carefully and at a comfortable pace.
What if the weather is bad?
Safety comes first. If we decide the weather or the road conditions are not safe, we adapt the route or move the experience to another day. If no new date suits you, you get a full refund.
What is your cancellation policy?
Cancel up to 7 days before your experience for a full refund. Between 7 days and 48 hours before, we refund 50%. Cancellations later than 48 hours before are not refundable. Plans change: if you need to move your date, write to us and we will do our best to find a new one.
When is the season?
Experiences run from spring, after the snow melts, until November. In winter we offer drives through snow-covered fir forests, only when the weather is favourable. With a single vehicle and at most two guests per trip, dates fill quickly, so we recommend writing to us early.
